We love taking our vacation time to visit family. The first week of June, we decided to visit Rick's family in Illinois and make our way back down through north Georgia for a wedding for Rick to be the best man.
First Stop: Illinois
A highlight of our Illinois visit was enjoying the cool Illinois weather and flying kites with Rick's siblings. On Tuesday, we celebrated Rick's upcoming birthday by eating tacos and cheesecake and playing games with the family.
Second Stop: Chattanooga
On our way back down to Georgia, we stayed overnight at the historic Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel. We just love history and great architecture.
Thursday was Rick's birthday. Since we knew the evening would be filled with wedding activities (picking up tuxes, dress rehearsal, etc.), we decided to celebrate with a nice birthday breakfast. We found a recommended restaurant called "Bluegrass Grill" about a block away from our hotel. We enjoyed our southern style breakfast of omelets, fruit, bacon, and of course, lots of coffee! Rick found a new favorite--jalapeno bacon! Yum, who knew bacon could get better?!
Thanks to my friend Kristin's post about Capturing Life as it is, I (Bethany) am learning to use my phone to take pictures to capture the moments when I am not carrying my big DSLR.
Third Stop: Union Point, north Georgia
We had a great time seeing our college friends, Josh and Laura, get married! We didn't take many pictures...only a quick one of us with a friend's iphone.
